Floating Support Service
Introduction
People can experience difficulties with alcohol or drugs at any stage in their life. Sometimes these difficulties can greatly diminish the independence and quality of their lives and those around them. CADS offers a general counseling support service Floating Support for residents of Brent whose lives have become complicated by the misuse of alcohol or drugs .
What is Floating Support?
‘Floating Support’ is a service provided to people in their own home in order to enable them to maintain independent living, improve their quality of life, and address their alcohol/ drug use.
What Floating Support offers
- Support, advice and advocacy about housing
- Referral to specialist alcohol or drug agencies
- Referral to relapse prevention groups
- Advice about detox programmes
- Arrange individual counseling
- Referral to Primary Care
- Liaison with Carers
- Support groups
- Home visits
Referral
Application for access to this service can be made by the individual client or a client’s chosen representative. An assessment can then be arranged within 48 hours. The assessment process and support plan addresses health, housing, alcohol problems and availability of support systems and a range of lifestyle factors.
